Welcome to Barefoot Labradors of Killingworth

Barefoot Labradors specializes in AKC black, yellow and chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies for the family.

Located in Killingworth, Connecticut, we have been providing exceptional puppies to families in the Northeast since 1995.

Our English style labs are AKC, OFA, OFEL, CERF registered. They enjoy 12 wooded acres surrounded by Connecticut State Park and Killingworth Land Trust, and swim in lab-friendly Pond Meadow Brook.

We breed for sound health and good temperament. We raise our puppies in a home environment and socialize them through frequent handling and play.

From their third to 16th day, we give them a series of gentle neurological stimulation (The Bio Sensor Program) to improve cardio vascular performance, tolerance to stress and resistance to disease. Also, during the 8-weeks they are with us, they listen to National Public Radio (NPR).

We microchip all of our puppies to help in their return to you in the event they are lost or stolen.

    

All of our pups are examined by a Vet at 2-4 days and again at 6-weeks (1st immunization).

Our puppies go to their new families with immunization records, AKC Litter Pedigree Certificate, copies of their parents' OFA & CERF certificates, and general information about care and training.

They are sold with a limited AKC registration to help protect the breed from genetic faults. They come with a 30-month Heath Guarantee for hip and elbow dysplasia, and hereditary defects of the eyes.

Pups from our litters have become service dogs for the deaf and physically disabled through the National Education of Assistance Dog Services (NEADS) West Boylston, MA.

Our litters are planned well in advance and sold by reservation to approved families. Occasionally, we have older labs to place to suitable homes. We post notice of their availability on this web site and on our Facebook Page.

We anticipate litters of yellow puppies that will go to families in August and in September, 2016. We plan to have chocolate puppies that will also go their new homes in November. Only email inquiries, please.

How to care for your new puppy
Our new puppy owners might want to check out the "Caring for your new puppy" section on the left side bar. It has a lot of valuable information and tips for taking care of your pup. You also might want to read "How to be a responsible dog owner" from the American Kennel Club (AKC). Also, information about Puppy Development may be of interest.

Online Store
We have recently opened an Online STORE with photos of puppies from recent litters that can be ordered as post cards, greeting cards and other items. All proceeds go to help raise and train puppies for the physically challenged.
